  • Low Fibre Swelling
  • More Flexible than Other Primers, While Still Maintaining Hardness for Easy Sanding
  • Can Be Topcoated with Many Product Types, Including Solvent Based Lacquers

The Application
The primer was applied using conventional spray systems across multiple types of wood, including MDF, teak, and plywood. No major process changes were needed, and drying times aligned well with existing production cycles.

Results
Within the first production cycle, the team reported:

  • Consistent topcoat bonding across all wood types
  • Smooth, uniform finish with reduced grain raise and patchiness
  • 25–30% reduction in topcoat usage, due to improved surface uniformity
  • Less sanding and rework, increasing throughput and reducing labor costs

Conclusion
Enterra 200 High Solids Wood Primer delivered measurable improvements in finish quality and process efficiency. Its ability to provide a consistent, sandable, and well-sealed surface made it a reliable solution for high-end wood applications.
The manufacturer has since standardized Enterra 200 as the primary primer for all fine-finish furniture lines.

Durafine Case Study

High-Performance Wood Coating with Enterra 200 High Solids Primer

A premium furniture manufacturer of high-end interior woodwor faced adhesion failures and uneven topcoat absorption across different wood substrates. Their existing primer was inconsistent in sealing porous surfaces, leading to blotchy finishes and increased topcoat consumption. Maintaining surface quality while improving process efficiency became a top priority.

The Challenge
The production team needed a wood primer that could:

  • Deliver strong intercoat adhesion with both solvent- and water-based topcoats
  • Effectively seal varied wood grains and minimize surface absorption
  • Provide high solids content for better coverage and smoother finishes
  • Reduce rework and sanding between coats

The Solution: Enterra 200 High Solids Wood Primer
Enterra 200 was introduced for its superior sealing properties and smooth leveling characteristics. Specially formulated for interior and semi-exterior woodwork, it offered excellent adhesion, low VOC, and easy sanding—creating an ideal base for topcoats such as PU, melamine, and NC finishes.
